Nieuws: Prijzen: NBCC shortlist bekend, Awater Poëzieprijs
De NBCC shortlists zijn bekend, met o.a. Franzen, Grossman en Keilson, Barbara Demick, Jennifer Homans en Isabel Wilkerson als kanshebbers, en de Awater Poëzieprijs is toegekend aan K. Michel voor zijn bundel Bij eb is je eiland groter.
De finalisten voor de jaarlijkse National Book Critics Circle (NBCC) Award zijn bekend: de lijst met fictie bevat enkele boeken die afgelopen jaar veel aandacht kregen (Grossman, Murray en Franzen), en een opvallende Duits-Nederlandse buitenstaander (Keilson). In de categorie non-fictie is onder anderen Jennifer Homans kanshebber, evenals Patti Smith met haar autobiografie Just Kids. Hier de complete lijst:

Michel voor zijn bundel Bij eb is je eiland groter NRC-recensent Ron Rijghard: 'Een dichter met ragfijn oog voor het absurdistische en voor de kronkels in het bestaan. Hij is geen man voor een semantisch potje armworstelen met taal en betekenis. Hij observeert, hij constateert. […] In zijn vijfde bundel Bij eb is je eiland groter verdiept K. Michel die klassieke methode door minder dan in eerder werk voor pure rarigheid te kiezen.'
