Beschrijving van de uitgever

Written in 1951 and originally titled Visions of Neal, this book was an underground legend by the time that it was eventually published in 1972. Written in a radical, experimental form, Kerouac's spontaneous prose here goes far beyond that of any other work, including "On the Road". Look for the excerpt titled "The Tape", where Jack transcribed verbatim an audio recording he made with Neal Cassady over a series of days while sitting at Neal's kitchen table in the Nob Hill area of San Francisco. This edition also included "Visions of the Great Remember" by Allen Ginsberg, where Allen calls "Visions of Cody", "the most sincere and holy writing I know of our age". Considered by many to be Kerouac's masterwork, the New York Times Book Review said, "To read 'On the Road', but not 'Visions of Cody', is to take a nice sightseeing tour, but to forego the spectacular rapids of Jack Kerouac's wildest writing." A must read for any serious student of Kerouac.
