Azeema

Athenaeum, in collaboration with the New Radicalism Festival, presents: a talk with Azeema Magazine's Jameela Elfaki.

Azeema is a platform and community with a focus on women in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia, diasporas and beyond. It is a much-loved magazine in our Newscentre (Spui, Amsterdam) that found an audience in Amsterdam over the last years.

We represent empowerment, strength, resistance and culture.
Azeema challenges and confronts issues surrounding representation and diversity by creating a space that is inclusive and celebratory of our cultures.

The event is a collaboration between Athenaeum and the New Radicalism Festival taking place at MONO in Rotterdam February 6-9. New Radicalism focuses on the radical new voices from the Middle-East, North Africa and her diasporas. It is a new media and arts festival as well as a platform for alternative artistic voices who challenge Western stereotypes about MENA art and culture.
