British literary journal The Happy Reader, by the creators of Penguin Classics and Fantastic Man, has been a bestseller since winter 2014 when it first arrived and attracted happy readers from all around the world. Each issue of the quarterly journal is split in two: an extensive interview (with, for example, Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens, the coolest girl in the band Kim Gordon, funny man Aziz Ansari, actor and Spice Girl fan Alan Cumming, pop superstar Grimes (posing with a llama?), icon Ethan Hawke, curator Hans Ulrich Obrist, and current issue’s leading lady Kristin Scott Thomas) and a look at one piece of classic literature (such as The Woman in White, The Book of Tea, Granite Island, The Purple Cloud, Au Bonheur Des Dames, The Saga of Costa Berling, Mrs Dalloway, and the current issue’s O Pioneers!).

The Happy Reader is somewhere between a magazine and an intellectually challenging literary journal. It’s simple, yet effective design (with a distinct color for each issue, and a specific graphic print that acts as a red thread and culminates in the hilarious bookmarks that are inserted in every copy ('I prefer cauliflower to men') – bind the two halves in unexpected and clever ways. Witty, sarcastic and snobby when it needs to be, The Happy Reader is a quarterly to look forward to and a collaboration by a group of great minds.

Join these great minds and us in Amsterdam on the 30th of November at 18:30. Editor-in-Chief Seb Emina will be interviewed by Euan Monaghan, editor of Structo magazine in celebration of the autumn 2016 issue.

We look forward to seeing you.
