Me, myself and my selfie
24 oktober 2018We want people to think of us as beautiful, wealthy, happy and successful. But how much self-occupation is healthy? Have we become too self-obsessed? Wednesday October 24 (8 pm) De Balie has planned an evening with Will Storr. He will discuss the concepts of self-image, selfies, self-obsession, self-love, self-hate and self-confidence, in relation to his book Selfie.
About Selfie
'Selfie explains how the West became self-obsessed and reveals the danger of this modern obsession - a "fascinating" (The Guardian), "brilliant" (Independent) and "electrifying" (Financial Times) book.'
About the speaker
Will Storr is a journalist and novelist. He recently published his book Selfie: How We Became So Self-Obsessed and What It’s Doing to Us. His articles appeared, amongst others, in The Guardian, Sunday Times, Observer, Esquire, The New Yorker and the Sydney Morning Herald. He was awarded the title New Journalist of the Year and won the National Press Club Prize for excellence.
