Buffalo Zine #9

Buffalo Zine #9 Rocco and his sons Magazine

Always arriving suddenly and unannounced, Buffalo Zine is a shapeshifter of a magazine. Much of the discussion around indie mag publishing at present is centred around the issue of success, which in this context really means ‘business model’. This is an essential part of any publishing project – what’s the point of publishing one issue then folding? – but can sometimes overwelm the creative side and suck the joy out of making magazines. Thank god, then, for Buffalo Zine, a magazine hanging around at the back of the classroom, chewing gum and planning another night on the laughing gas.
This issue:
At a time when referencing, borrowing and adapting are everywhere — but our obsession with authenticity and uniqueness has never been greater — what does it mean to be original today? For the ninth issue of Buffalo Zine, we’re delving into the murky world of imitation, from copies to clones, fakes to frauds, parodists to plagiarists. As Pablo Picasso once said: good artists copy, great artists steal. Except he didn’t actually come up with it. He copied it from T.S. Eliot.
