A New Type of Imprint Anniversary!

22 mei 2017, Athenaeum Nieuwscentrum

A New Type of Imprint is an Oslo-based creative lifestyle magazine that publishes Nordic culture in a quarterly magazine. As a magazine for both Norwegian and Nordic design, art, literature and culture, A New Type functions as a platform that introduces new, and older, names and launches them into the Western hemisphere. Their anniversary issue, volume 10, is available in our store now, both on- and offline, and features more inspiring, romantic and fantastic morsels than ever before. Fiction, essays, visuals, illustrations, design, interior and art – A New Type and its editors don’t shy away from anything in this huge cardboard box of goodies.

Volume 10 comes in a cardboard box that features your ‘standard’ volume, another magazine entitled People Passions Places by the Infinitum Movement and a beautiful limited print by Laila Myrseth Tryggeseth. The issue itself deals with Denmark, the headquarters of Scandinavian design, as well as over a hundred pages on Norwegian creatives featured in interviews, essays, photo series and illustrations.

‘If you’re like us and think you know what to expect when it comes to Danish design — their history is rich and strong, after all – you should think twice. We’ve met with contemporary, challenging, vivid and innovative creatives in the fields of fashion, photography, architecture, furniture, infrastructure, illustrations and spatial design.’ [A New Type of Imprint]

That's true: surprisingly fresh and new voices emerge from the new issue – and from all kinds of disciplines (including pottery, illustration and print-making).

The supplement People Passions Places features many of these names, and aims to inspire its reader to ‘look forward and think about the little things we can do to have a big impact on our future.’ Featuring various people that have alternative and sustainable ways to live, focusing on the wild aspects, the escapism-‘unplug yourself’ zeitgeist of our generation, People Passions Places is a beautiful accompanying publication that opposes, yet reflects, the sleek Nordic design element of A New Type. Lastly the fun and playful print of Laila Myrseth Tryggeset is a wacky little gift by the publishers. Thanks guys!
