Orwell Prize voor Arkady Ostrovsky
26 mei 2016De Orwell Prize 2016 gaat naar Arkady Ostrovsky voor zijn boek The Invention of Russia: The Journey from Gorbachev's Freedom to Putin's War. De Orwell Prize 'for exposing Britain's social evils' gaat naar Nicci Gerard.
De Orwell Prize wordt jaarlijks uitgereikt aan het boek 'which come closest to George Orwell’s ambition to "make political writing into an art"'. Vorig jaar won James Meek de prijs. Er zijn ook Orwell Prizes voor journalistiek en nu dus ook voor content over sociaal onrecht.
Op de longlist dit jaar stonden onder anderen Jason Burke en debutante Emma Sky.
