Costa Book of the Year 2020 voor Monique Roffey
27 januari 2021Monique Roffeys The Mermaid of Black Conch: A Love Story is het Costa Book of the Year 2020. Dat maakte de organisatie gisteravond bekend.
De Costa Book Awards ('one of the UK's most prestigious and popular literary prizes and recognises some of the most enjoyable books of the year by writers based in the UK and Ireland') kennen een vijftal categorieën - First Novel, Novel, Biography, Poetry and Children's Book - met elk een winnaar, waaruit een jaarwinnaar wordt gekozen. De afgelopen jaren wonnen Jack Fairweather, Bart Van Es (en niet Sally Rooney), Helen Dunmore, Sebastian Barry, Frances Hardinge, Helen MacDonald, Nathan Filer en Hilary Mantel de overall-prijs.
